Adult MSK (Musculosketetal) Service - Bexley

Bexley MSK is a Multidisciplinary service providing care for a wide range of muscle, bone and joint pains and problems for adults in the Bexley locality.  We are a large team of Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, Hand Therapists and Pain Psychologist with expert knowledge in how to help people manage painful conditions.

This webpage aims to help you find information and help about our team and about treating common conditions we come across.

You can now refer yourself directly to the Bexley MSK Service for simple physiotherapy problems without visiting your GP first.

Your first appointment will be a telephone triage session with a physiotherapist and this will take around 20 minutes.

Please note that self-referral is most helpful if you are suffering from recent injuries such as strains and sprains, or joint and muscular pain.

Why are GP practices working differently?

GP practices are open but the pandemic is not over. In south east London there are still thousands of people getting Covid-19, with hundreds in intensive care. GP practices
worked hard to stay open and treat people throughout the Covid lockdowns and continue to do so. To protect everyone, we must maintain safe infection control and minimise unnecessary physical contact.

How are practices working now?
So that the people with greatest need are seen first; and so we don’t ask people to travel and come into contact with unwell and infectious people, you will be assessed to decide who needs:

to be seen in person by one of the team
a phone consultation
a video consultation
help from a community pharmacy or another health service

How can I contact my GP?
You can contact your GP practice on the phone, but if you are able to and if your
practice offers it, the best thing to do is to fill out an online form on the practice
website. You will then be contacted with the best appointment for you.

If you need help with minor injuries at any time or urgent care when your GP
practice or pharmacy is closed visit or dial 111. 111 can also book out
of hours appointments.

You can access NHS 111, contact your practice and get your Covid Pass using the
NHS App. Search NHS App in your app store.

Choose if data from your health records is shared for research and planning

There have been posts on social media with false information about opting out of sharing your data with the NHS.

Here's what you need to know:

  • There is no 30 September deadline for opting out of sharing your data. You can opt out at any time.
  • NHS Digital will never sell your data.
  • There are strict rules about how NHS can use your data. It's only shared securely and safely.
  • Shared data helps the NHS. It has been used to find the first treatment for coronavirus and for vaccine research.

Bexley Medical Groups is very proud to share the news that Dr Samra has been awarded an unsung hero award by Pulse Today for her hard work and planning during the pandemic:

Dr Hardip Samra
London-based GP Dr Samra has been praised for her ‘meticulous planning’ during the pandemic. Her colleague Dr Kosta Manis nominated her after witnessing her volunteer not only to organise her practice’s hot hub, but also work for the borough’s local version too, despite the risk to herself – being of a minority ethnic group. She sourced World Health Organisation-level PPE and trained staff in its use.
